Emma Somos is a Communications and Engagement Assistant at the Government Outcomes Lab, Blavatnik School of Government. She supports the organisation of the Social Outcomes Conference 2024 (SOC24) on September 5-6. Emma brings extensive organising experience from her leadership roles in the University of Oxford Student Union, Wolfson College, and the Graduate Inequality Review journal.
Currently completing her MSc in Sociology at the University of Oxford, Emma holds a BSc in Sociology from LSE and will begin her DPhil in Sociology at Oxford in October. Her research focuses on social stratification, social mobility, economic elites, and the politics of climate change.
Emma's experience includes research assistantships at LSE's Department of Sociology and the Oxford Internet Institute, as well as roles with Future: Hungary and UNICEF. She volunteers with Climate Cardinals and the UK Youth Climate Coalition, advocating for intersectional climate policy. Her commitment to addressing inequalities was shaped by her work with the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service supporting underprivileged children.
