About Aneta

Aneta Wierzynska is an attorney, risk management expert, results-based contracting expert, and former fraud investigator currently at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis in Geneva, Switzerland.  She is an institutional innovator, working vertically and horizontally within the organization to align control and compliance systems with strategic and operational objectives.

Most recently, Aneta co-lead the institution’s private sector engagement initiative, where she overhauled the contracting and assurance approaches of grant recipients across the grant portfolio, including the highest-risk, highest-disease burden countries in Africa.  On this basis, she has led the redrafting of internal institutional policies and procedures to scale results-based contracting solutions.  Prior to this, Aneta supported the creation of the Risk and Ethics functions at the Global Fund, where she operationalized risk management processes, lead the institution’s anti-corruption and integrity due diligence approach, delivered Board-approved policies, developed operational guidelines, performed trainings, and provided hands-on support for the highest fraud risk portfolios.  Aneta has also conducted investigations and forensic control risk assessments at the Global Fund and the World Bank.  She worked in civil society at Transparency International and in local organizations in Sierra Leone and Rwanda.

In her work, Aneta searches out and engages any disciplines or methods necessary to deliver pragmatic solutions for quality programmatic performance and reliable, timely programmatic data at value for money.  She brings together cross-functional and cross-institutional teams composed of strategic sponsors, technical experts, controllers, operational managers, and stakeholders, and she facilitates objectives-driven solutions that leverage the mix of skills and perspectives.  She targets and resolves operational pain points such as red tape, risk aversion, operational delays, or misalignment across bureaucratic silos by offering solutions anchored in enterprise risk management, international standards of internal control, performance management, process optimization such as lean and agile, targeted audit and assurance methods, and technological innovations.
