He is a senior probation officer at the Tokyo Probation Office Tachikawa Branch of the Ministry of Justice in Japan. He has been engaging in policymaking on offender rehabilitation, old building renovation and environment education in the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Land and Infrastructure and the Ministry of the Environment for more than ten years.
At the Government Outcomes Lab, Reiji creates a knowledge source for measuring social value from the perspective of a government official. He also engages in the impact evaluation on community-based offender rehabilitation programmes using GO Lab-CIPFA Value for Money Toolkit. His research activities at the GOLab will be reported to the government of Japan.
He holds a master’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration. From 2018 to 2021, he was a Senior Researcher at the Research Department of the Research and Training Institute of the Ministry of Justice of Japan, responsible for data analytics on crime trends and offender characteristics. In addition, he conducted international surveys of outcome and cost evaluation methods in offender rehabilitation.
