We are pleased to be hosting Transforming Systems – Collaborating for a New Paradigm for Education at the Blavatnik School of Government this April, as part of the Skoll World Forum week in Oxford.
This event brings together global education leaders, practitioners, funders, and system actors to explore how we can collectively reimagine education systems to better respond to today’s complex and interconnected challenges.
We are living through a period of profound global change. From the lasting impacts of a global pandemic to accelerating climate crises, geopolitical instability, and rapid technological advancement, the world young people are entering is increasingly complex and uncertain. These challenges are deeply interconnected, and they demand new ways of thinking, learning, and collaborating.
Education has a critical role to play in shaping how individuals and societies respond. Beyond academic knowledge, there is a growing recognition that education systems must nurture agency, empathy, resilience, creativity, and critical thinking, equipping young people not only to navigate change, but to actively shape a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future.
Yet despite widespread commitment to these goals, efforts to transform education systems often remain fragmented, across geographies, organisations, and sectors. This event creates a space to step back and ask more fundamental questions: What is the purpose of education today? What should it become? And how do we work together to get there?
Through shared dialogue and exchange, the convening will bring together diverse perspectives to explore how shifts in the purpose, practice, and culture of education systems can be accelerated. It will also highlight the importance of collaboration across actors, from educators and system leaders to funders and civil society, in driving meaningful, long-term change at scale.
The afternoon will explore three interconnected themes:
This event is organised by ShikshaLokam, Global Schools Forum, JA Worldwide, Transcend, and VVOB, in collaboration with a range of global partners.
