Organisation: Government Outcomes Lab (GO Lab)
On the first day of the Social Outcomes Conference 2022, we held a deep dive session that explored some ways to unlocking investment for outcomes-focused social programmes.
The moderator, Salim Bensmali (Meridian), encouraged participants to go beyond the model of social impact bonds. All in an effort to see how we can use outcomes-focused funding to better align social and financial objectives, while at the same time dealing with multiple (and often conflicting) goals of stakeholders.
Megan Goulding, from the USC Price Center for Social Innovation, highlighted that many stakeholders "expressed the need for a more simplified social impact bond investment model and structure", and suggested that fund-based investment approaches might offer a solution.
