On the first day of the Social Outcomes Conference 2022, we held a round table on the current state of outcomes-based contracting around the world.

Dr Chih Hoong Sin (Traverse) moderated a conversation with experts from the Netherlands, America, Abu Dhabi, Italy, Australia and more. Speakers discussed the importance of stretching the impact bond model to best serve a specific local context.

Abha Thorat-Shah, from the British Asian Trust, highlighted the importance of considering the experience of low- and middle-income countries where governments are not always behind the payment of outcomes (unlike high-income countries). We also explored some of the differences in the design of Social Impact Bond models in the Global South.
