Improving Outcomes: East Midlands SIB Practitioners Workshop

As more Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) are being developed across the country, the GO Lab is keen to ensure that those practitioners leading on outcomes-based models of service provision have the opportunity to share their learning with their peers and work together to unlock some of the practical implementation challenges they face. At the same time, we want to share with practitioners the range of support tools developed by the GO Lab based on the experiences of practitioners so far and explore how these tools can be applied to improve the design and implementation of their SIB projects.

Attendees will have the opportunity to: 

• Share their experiences of developing SIBs and hear from other projects from the region
  
• Work collaboratively with peers from across the region and with the GO Lab to develop practical solutions to strengthening their SIB project to ensure improved social outcomes 
  
• Use the insights from the evidence base to date to think critically about whether and how an outcomes-focused approach can help address some of the systemic challenges faced by the public sector
  

The event is aimed at officers in public authorities in the region and representatives of VCSE service providers who are involved in the development and implementation of SIB projects. This workshop is hosted by the GO Lab, in partnership with East Midlands Councils and the Office for Civil Society.

Practitioner-led presentations exploring practical considerations through the lens of their SIB projects and reflections on the lessons learnt. The presentations will be followed by group discussions around the three core elements of the SIB Readiness Framework:

3. Designing the service

13.45     Session III - Applying insights from the evidence to date in your locality (parallel sessions)

Practitioner-led discussions exploring practical considerations through the lens of individual SIB projects. This session will use the SIB Readiness Framework as the starting point for an interactive discussion on the key considerations that need to be made at each stage of developing a SIB, best practice, and how to overcome some of the most common barriers.
